Sick Policy Update: Flu, Colds, and Cough - January 5th, 2026

With flu season on the rise in El Paso County, Little Eagles Child Development Center (LECDC) is implementing updated health and illness guidelines to safeguard the health of children, families, and staff.

○ Temperature for notification: 99.0°F

○ Temperature to be sent home: 99.5°F or higher

Children must be fever-free for at least 48 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to LECDC care.

○ Fever

○ Persistent cough

○ Runny or congested nose with additional symptoms

○ Sore throat

○ Body aches or fatigue

○ Vomiting or diarrhea

○ Any symptoms preventing participation in daily activities

A doctor's note may be required for a child to return following a flu diagnosis or other contagious illness. The note must state the child is no longer contagious and safe to return to group care.

This policy is enforced in accordance with state child care licensing regulations and public health guidance. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from care, suspension, or termination of enrollment.
